OVERVIEW

U.S. Economic Renaissance Conference New York City    June 8, 2009

It's time to remake America.  In America.

Only fresh thinking and respected leadership can turn us around.  Which is why we are turning to you.

The first U.S. Economic Renaissance Conference will be presented on Monday, June 8, 2009 here in New York before an extraordinary group of business, finance, government and media leaders.  It's built around one extraordinary theme:

Bring Back Manufacturing and Economic Recovery
to the United States!

We cannot rebuild America just by bailing out sinking ships or rebuilding our rickety infrastructure.  Sure, stimulus counts.  But it depends upon what we stimulate.

We believe that the only way the country can recover is by bringing manufacturing back to the U.S.   We're not talking about getting back lost manufacturing, but by reinventing a new manufacturing base here in the U.S.  And this new manufacturing must fit the needs and standards of the 21st Century.  The United States cannot ever recover until we start making things again.

Look at this country.  There is no textile industry left here. A fragmented steel and metal industry exists.   Light manufacturing in sectors such as home, garden and office supplies, computer parts and toys, among others, struggle to survive.  Yet, they all compete in global markets.

The notion of manufacturing must be redefined.  This, like everything else, must meet the realities of the 21st Century.

Our Economic Renaissance Conference will be designed around two core opportunities:

• Manufacturing
• Green and alternative energy

Within this framework we see two cooperative vectors:

• The incentives of benign government
• Thoughtful investment from the private sector

Those realities must include:

• enlightened taxation
• a realistic compromise on the cost of health and medical benefits
• an intelligent partnership between management and labor
• adequate financing to launch a new manufacturing base

It's obvious that the old rules of business and government are not working. Crisis breeds change. And change today requires a hybrid of government (top down), private and entrepreneurial (bottom up) stimuli. There may be other profound solutions, too.

A Renaissance in manufacturing can trigger the recovery of the U.S. economy.  Production of finished goods.  Job creation.   The taxation of both.  Plus the return of positive cash flow; and mercifully, the return of EBIDTA and the old fashioned bottom line.

A stellar group of American thinkers, planners and government leaders are expected to speak on these topics. To date, confirmed speakers include:

As a follow up, the U.S. Economic Renaissance Conference will assemble a volunteer U.S. Economic Renaissance Alliance.  The Alliance's mission is to press forward its findings and recommendations to appropriate academic, media and legislative bodies.

The U.S. Economic Renaissance Alliance's objectives:

• Bring manufacturing back to the U.S.
• Change tax codes to fit the needs of the new manufacturing
• Reduce the costs of health care
• Encourage a true partnership between management and labor
• Allocate private capital to new economic sectors

This Alliance is not limited to those who attend the Conference.   Furthermore, the Alliance will self-organize, write its own by-laws and determine its own course.

A Conference? An Alliance?  National Leaders? The Media? You?

We truly trust you are persuaded.  We need you at this extraordinary event.  Now is the time to redefine U.S. manufacturing practices and make it smart business to make things right back here in the good old U.S.A.   Now is the time to remake America.
